Preparation of 40 % v/v Water Ethanol Solution (WES)

Measure 400 mL of absolute ethanol and pour it into a 1-liter volumetric flask. Bring the solution volume up to the 1-liter mark by adding distilled water and mix thoroughly.
Accurately determine the volumetric ethanol content in the WES (ABVWES, %) and WES density using standard methods.

Preparation of Standard Solution A

Weight the empty 100 mL volumetric flask. Measure approximately 60.0 mL of the WES, pour it into the flask and weight it.
Pipette reagents into the flask one by one and weigh each reagent. Make up to volume with WES, mix thoroughly and weight it.
Determine the final mass of the flask with all reagents and WES added in the solution.
